Incompetence or Neglect in The Vidalia Georgia Police Department
The District Attorney’s office is reporting the dismissal of more than fifty felony cases due not receiving a complete file from the department.
Acting City Manager Bill Bedingfield issued a letter to Chief of Police James Jermon on April 22, 2024. The letter addresses issues arising from the Vidalia Police Department. The District Attorney’s Office reports that Investigator Shannon Martin’s actions have been detrimental to law enforcement and public safety in Vidalia.
Also reports of more than fifty felony cases have been dismissed due to the office not receiving a complete file from the police department. As this has made cases impossible to prosecute. The District Attorney also reports poor management and production of body cam footage, despite the City’s investment in high quality equipment.
Roger Calloway employed with the Vidalia Police Department was placed on administrative leave starting September 3, 2024, for “Negligence in performing assigned duties” and “Conduct reflecting discredit on the city or department”.
Recently Georgia Transparency (GT) visited the Vidalia Board of Education. Where employee Sabrina appeared scared and made statements that GT had something in his pocket. This placed GT in a very dangerous situation at the negligence of Sabrina. Thankfully GT met a professional, polite, and confident police officer.
Thank you to the anonymous source that has provided these and many other records from the Vidalia Police Department.
