Off Duty Police Officer Hits Deer & Prompts an Internal Investigation
Lagrange Police Officer Rebecca Noles is currently on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation.
On or around August 22, 2024, off duty police officer claims to have collided with a deer. Corporal Sweat with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office was on scene. Georgia State Patrol (GSP) was not requested per the body camera video. It was reported in the body camera that off duty Lagrange Police Officer Rebecca was driving.
According to Police Chief Fiveash with Lagrange, an internal investigation was launched and is due to be completed by next week.
Questions arise as to why GSP wasn’t involved and why was an internal investigation launched just for striking a deer in a personal vehicle. Why is more tax money needed to be spent for an off-duty officer striking a deer. Is it normal practice for Lagrange Police to launch a full internal investigation when any off-duty officer/s have an accident in their personal vehicle. To add there was no report filled out.
