Retaliation Has Started by Grantville Board Members

Charles “Red” Phillips of the Historic Preservation Commission in Grantville, Georgia post on a comment on Facebook accusing a citizen of a crime.

Retaliation Has Started by Grantville Board Members

Grantville may have another problem with Committee Board member Charles “Red” Phillips (Red). In a previous Facebook posting by Red, he stated for Grantville citizen Robert Royce to “get used to retaliation.”

The controversy extends from a beer and wine license submitted with leaving out pertinent arrest information by Red, according to records. That story can be found here, Grantville Committee Board Member & Local Restaurant Owner

Previous city council members voted to indict Robert Royce in the past for filing repetitive open records requests. However, an arrest was never made, nor any charges were filed by the District Attorney’s office. After a very thorough investigation Georgia Transparency (GT) could not locate any arrest records for Robert Royce in the Coweta Judicial Circuit nor in Los Angeles County, California. However, Robert did make a full admission that he recived a traffic citation when he was 16 years old. City council voting to speak with a District Attorney about filing charges doesn’t automatically place said person under arrest or charged with a crime.

After speaking with Robert Royce, his statement is that he has never been arrested ever.

On or around October 15, 2024, Red posted a comment that Robert had been arrested for harassing law enforcement. GT commented to Red about posting such records to validate the allegation of the crime. One of Red’s responses was “I believe it to be true. Makes it legal.” Can Red pass laws that citizens must obey, if Red believes it to be legal.

Robert posted asking for Red to retract such statement and make an apology.

Red was voted to be on the Historical Preservation Commission in Grantville earlier this year (2024). Looking at the bigger picture, why would Red accuse someone of being arrested with no records, documents, or information to support such theory.

Earlier in 2024, Taylor Phillips on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board stated that GT is a pedophile. This occurred just after Taylor was voted in by the city council to this board. However, no records exist to support that GT has ever been charged for such crime/s. An intent to file a lawsuit for slander/defamation was submitted to Taylor and still yet to hear a response back.

Is this the normal procedure for the city of Grantville, Georgia. If public officials do not share the viewpoint as another, then one could be labeled with committing crimes that never occurred.
